Family Owned and Operated Woodworking Shop

Our journey has led us through many exciting adventures - we've earned 2 Master's degrees, welcomed 2 beloved beagles, purchased a 'fixer-upper' home, grown our family with 3 wonderful children, and even launched a consulting business. Along the way, we've gained invaluable lessons and navigated some complex health hurdles. With Bill's passion for woodworking and Julie's love for providing exceptional customer service, we have been able to jump start our company, Lewis Woodwork.

Our family-run woodworking shop is a testament to the enduring craft of woodworking and the strong bonds of family. The shop, filled with the scent of wood and the sounds of machinery, is a place where tradition meets innovation. We uphold the techniques passed down through generations while embracing new ideas with the help of our adult children. Each piece we create is not just a product, but a reflection of our family's passion and dedication to the art of woodworking.

All In The Family

Our three now-adult children, Caroline, Jillian and Owen, are a huge help with many aspects of our business, such as assisting with wood designs for our boards, taking trips to the lumber yard, working in the shop, and educating us on how to better use social media. Working together to grow our family business is a rewarding experience.

Meet Julie

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Health Policy and Management from Providence College, married my high school sweetheart, Bill, and moved to Baltimore, Maryland. While working as a hospital manager, I pursued my Master of Science in Management at Johns Hopkins University.

Over the years I have always been very involved, volunteering in the schools, managing soccer and swim teams, managing Bill's IT consulting company, and working part-time for a local home inspection company.

In 2022, I experienced stroke-like symptoms, revealing a brain lesion. After many doctors appointments with no diagnosis, we took a different approach to health, and through dietary changes and intermittent fasting, we reduced my inflammation and I now feel much better and more clear-headed then even before.

Creating Lewis Woodwork has given me the opportunity to continue working with Bill, while marketing our wood crafted products to a wide variety of business professionals, and providing top-quality customer service, all which I really enjoy doing.

Meet Bill

After graduating with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in MA, Julie and I packed up a U-Haul and moved to Baltimore to continue my studies at Johns Hopkins University, where I earned a Master of Science in Civil Engineering. In school, I learned extensive computer programming and was quickly hired as an IT Engineer.

Since about the time our children were born, I established my own IT Consulting business, allowing me to better balance work and family, which included woodworking projects and coaching our kids' soccer teams for almost 20 years.

With the nest now empty, I had a heartfelt conversation with Julie about my desire to delve into woodworking, a passion inherited from my great grandfather. Re-energized with turning a hobby into a profession of designing, milling, and crafting exquisite wooden masterpieces, I use my engineering experience and knowledge to apply to our business and woodworking projects.
